The SN74ALS573CN is an octal D-type transparent latch manufactured by Texas Instruments. This device features eight independent latches, each capable of storing a single bit of data. The latches are transparent when the latch enable (LE) input is high, allowing data to pass directly from the D inputs to the Q outputs. When LE transitions low, the data present at the D inputs is latched and held. The SN74ALS573CN incorporates three-state outputs, enabling it to be used in bus-oriented systems. It is supplied in a DIP-20 package.
This octal latch is commonly employed in applications requiring temporary data storage or buffering. The three-state outputs make it suitable for use in memory address decoding and data bus interfacing. Its low power consumption makes it suitable for a range of digital systems.
