FOD8012A – FSC

The FOD8012A, manufactured by FSC, is a dual-channel, high-speed optocoupler housed in an 8-pin small outline integrated circuit (SOIC) package. It provides galvanic isolation of 3.75 kVrms between the input and output circuits. Each channel incorporates an aluminum gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) light-emitting diode (LED) optically coupled to a CMOS detector integrated circuit. The device is specified for push-pull logic gate applications, delivering high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) typically exceeding 50 kV/µs. The FOD8012A features a maximum propagation delay of 65 ns and operates from a supply voltage range of 3 V to 5.5 V, making it suitable for isolating high-speed data lines, switch-mode power supplies, and digital logic interfaces where safety isolation and noise immunity are critical. The device’s CMOS output stage minimizes power consumption and provides improved performance compared to traditional bipolar transistor-based optocouplers.
