CS8420CS-D1 – CIRRUS

The CS8420CS-D1, manufactured by Cirrus Logic, is a digital audio interface transmitter (DIT) compliant with the RoHS directive. This device encodes and transmits digital audio data according to the AES/EBU, S/PDIF, and EIAJ CP-340 standards. It accepts serial audio data in I2S, left-justified, or right-justified formats, and converts it into a bi-phase encoded serial stream for transmission. The CS8420CS-D1 features integrated channel status and user data buffer management, allowing for flexible control over transmitted metadata. It typically operates from a 3.3V or 5V power supply and includes a low-jitter phase-locked loop (PLL) for generating the required high-frequency clock signals. The device’s output driver is designed to directly drive 110-ohm balanced lines for AES/EBU or 75-ohm unbalanced lines for S/PDIF applications, selectable via configuration pins.
