The 74HC259DB, manufactured by Philips (now Nexperia), is an 8-bit addressable latch integrated circuit fabricated using high-speed CMOS technology. It is functionally equivalent to the 74LS259 but offers significantly improved performance characteristics, including lower power consumption and higher noise immunity. The device features eight individual latches, each controlled by a common address decoder. Data is latched on the rising edge of the enable (EN) input when the selected address lines (A0, A1, A2) correspond to the desired latch. A clear (CLR) input allows for asynchronous resetting of all latches to a low state. The 74HC259DB operates within a supply voltage range of 2V to 6V and is characterized for operation across the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. It is supplied in a 16-pin Shrink Small Outline Package (SSOP), suitable for high-density board assembly.
