Product Details:

The ULN2003LVPWR is a high-voltage, high-current Darlington transistor array specifically designed for driving inductive loads. Unlike generic Darlington arrays, this part features a unique internal clamping diode configuration optimized for minimizing voltage spikes generated by inductive flyback. Its seven independent Darlington pairs, each capable of sustaining a collector-emitter voltage (Vceo) of up to 50V and a collector current (Ic) of 500mA, are ideal for applications requiring robust load switching. The device operates within a supply voltage range of 12V to 36V, a wider range than many comparable components. It’s packaged in a space-saving 16-pin SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit) format._x000D_

The ULN2003LVPWR’s inherent advantages lie in its ability to handle high inductive loads without external protection components, simplifying circuit design and reducing board space. Common use cases include driving relays, solenoids, and stepper motors in industrial control systems, automotive applications, and power management circuits. Its internal clamping diodes provide superior protection against voltage transients, extending the lifespan of both the transistors and the driven loads. The higher voltage rating compared to similar parts like the ULN2003A makes it suitable for applications exceeding 30V. However, careful consideration should be given to thermal management, especially at higher currents, due to the power dissipation inherent in Darlington arrays.
