The TAICOM TCC68B is a 68-position surface mount socket designed to accept JEDEC standard PLCC (Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier) integrated circuits. Constructed from high-temperature thermoplastic, the TCC68B withstands reflow soldering processes up to 260°C. Its contacts, typically beryllium copper with tin or gold plating over nickel, provide reliable electrical connection and low contact resistance. The socket features a latching mechanism, either lever-actuated or push-button, to secure the PLCC device and ensure proper alignment. Pin spacing is the standard 0.050 inch (1.27mm) pitch for PLCC packages. The TCC68B’s footprint adheres to industry-standard dimensions for 68-pin PLCC sockets, facilitating drop-in replacement and ease of PCB layout. It is commonly used in applications requiring socketed PLCC devices for prototyping, testing, or field programmability.
