The STMicroelectronics SMAJ30CA is a surface-mount transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode specifically designed for protecting sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning, inductive load switching, and electrostatic discharge (ESD). This bidirectional device provides symmetrical voltage clamping characteristics, exhibiting a typical breakdown voltage around 33.3V and a clamping voltage of approximately 48.4V during transient events. Its 400W peak pulse power capability, combined with its fast response time, ensures robust overvoltage protection. The SMAJ30CA utilizes the standard DO-214AC (SMA) package, facilitating easy integration into automated assembly processes. It operates reliably across a temperature range of –65°C to 150°C.
