The MDN15S, manufactured by McMurdo, is a robust, die-cast backshell designed for use with standard D-subminiature connectors conforming to MIL-DTL-24308 size 15S. Constructed from zinc alloy with a nickel plating, the backshell provides effective EMI/RFI shielding, typically exceeding 40dB attenuation across a frequency range of 30MHz to 1GHz. It features a two-piece construction secured with screws, allowing for easy access to internal wiring and termination points. The MDN15S accommodates cable diameters ranging from 0.197 to 0.315 inches (5.0 to 8.0 mm) via an integrated strain relief clamp.
