Product Details:
The HLMP-5050 from Hewlett Packard is a gallium arsenide phosphide (GaAsP) on gallium phosphide (GaP) diffused LED emitting in the visible spectrum. Its diffused lens provides a wide viewing angle and uniform light distribution, sacrificing some luminous intensity for increased off-axis visibility. The GaAsP/GaP material composition dictates the emitted wavelength, typically in the red to orange-red region, although the exact dominant wavelength and luminous intensity are dependent on the specific binning and drive current. Electrical characteristics include a forward voltage typically between 1.8V and 2.2V at a forward current of 20mA, and a reverse leakage current typically less than 10µA at a reverse voltage of 5V. The device is commonly used as an indicator LED where precise color and high intensity are not critical, but a wide viewing angle is desired.
