The HIN202CB is a dual RS-232 transceiver integrated circuit, configured as two drivers and two receivers, compliant with the EIA/TIA-232 standard. Fabricated in a CMOS process, it operates from a single 5V power supply and incorporates internal charge pump circuitry to generate the ±10V RS-232 voltage levels required for transmission. The device supports data rates up to 120 kbps, suitable for standard serial communication applications. Housed in a 16-pin Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SOIC) package, it provides a compact footprint for surface mount assembly. Receiver inputs are designed with hysteresis to improve noise immunity and prevent oscillation. Driver outputs are short-circuit protected and can drive capacitive loads up to 2500 pF. The HIN202CB is typically used in applications requiring RS-232 level translation, such as interfacing microcontrollers or UARTs to external serial devices.
