The National Semiconductor CD74HC4094E is a high-speed silicon gate CMOS 8-stage shift-and-store bus register featuring three-state outputs designed for serial-to-parallel data conversion. Its serial data input (SER) feeds an 8-stage shift register. Data shifts on the positive-going transition of the SHIFT CLOCK (SCK). Transferred data is then latched into the storage register upon a positive transition of the STROBE (STR) input. The three-state outputs are controlled by the OUTPUT ENABLE (OE) input. With an output voltage rating of 6V and a continuous output current rating of 25mA, the CD74HC4094E is ideal for driving moderate loads directly. Housed in a 16-pin PDIP (through-hole) package, it simplifies prototyping and breadboarding. Its wide operating temperature range of –40°C to 85°C makes it suitable for industrial and automotive applications. Commonly used in LED display drivers, remote control systems, and data acquisition, its cascaded configuration capability allows for expanding output channels, offering a cost-effective and versatile solution for parallel data output from serial streams.
