The BMI160 is a low-power, 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) from Bosch Sensortec, integrating a 16-bit triaxial accelerometer and a 16-bit triaxial gyroscope within a single package. The accelerometer features user-selectable full-scale ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g, with typical noise density of 120 μg/√Hz. The gyroscope offers full-scale ranges of ±125°/s, ±250°/s, ±500°/s, ±1000°/s, and ±2000°/s, exhibiting a typical noise density of 7°/s/√Hz. Communication interfaces include both I²C and SPI, enabling flexible integration with a variety of host microcontrollers. The device incorporates on-chip digital signal processing for motion detection, including tap sensing, step counting, and orientation detection. Power consumption is minimized through advanced power management features, allowing for operation in low-power and sleep modes. The BMI160 is factory calibrated for both accelerometer and gyroscope, ensuring accurate and reliable performance across its operating temperature range.
