The MARL 208-501-22-38 is a discrete, single-color, aluminum gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) on gallium arsenide (GaAs) LED emitting in the red portion of the visible spectrum. It is characterized by a dominant wavelength typically between 620nm and 635nm, with a forward voltage of approximately 1.8V to 2.2V at a forward current of 20mA. Luminous intensity is dependent on drive current and specific lens configuration, but typically ranges from 5mcd to 20mcd at the nominal forward current. The device is commonly packaged in a 3mm (T-1) or 5mm (T-1 3/4) through-hole package, providing a viewing angle between 20 and 60 degrees depending on lens geometry. Thermal resistance from junction to ambient is typically around 400°C/W, requiring careful consideration of heat sinking for higher current applications to maintain optimal performance and longevity.
