The 1206L200PR from LITTELFUSE is a surface-mount Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuse, conforming to the 1206 EIA standard case size. This device provides overcurrent protection up to its interrupt rating at its rated voltage of 6VDC. The “200” designation indicates a hold current (Ihold) of 2.0A, the maximum current the device will carry without tripping in a 25°C ambient environment. Its trip current (Itrip), the current at which the device will switch to a high resistance state, is higher than the hold current. The PPTC element exhibits a low resistance under normal operating conditions, but rapidly increases in resistance during an overcurrent event, limiting the fault current and protecting downstream circuitry. Once the fault is cleared and power is removed, the device cools down and returns to its low resistance state, restoring circuit operation.
