The Pickering 109-1-A-5/2D is a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) normally open (Form A) Micro-SIL reed relay designed for high-density circuit board mounting. It features a 5VDC coil voltage and utilizes a sputtered ruthenium reed switch for enhanced contact performance and extended life, particularly in low-level switching applications. The relay’s construction incorporates a fully isolated coil and switch, providing high isolation voltage characteristics. The “5/2D” designation indicates a coil resistance optimized for 5V operation and a diode suppression network integrated within the package to protect against back EMF during coil de-energization. This internal diode reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) and simplifies circuit design by eliminating the need for external suppression components. The Micro-SIL package allows for close stacking on PCBs, maximizing board space utilization in automated test equipment, instrumentation, and other high-density applications.
