Overview

The LITTELFUSE 0251002.MXL PICO® II Very Fast-Acting Fuse is a critical component for safeguarding sensitive electronics in space-constrained designs. Its primary function is to provide rapid overcurrent protection, interrupting fault conditions within milliseconds to prevent catastrophic damage to downstream circuitry. A key design consideration is the inherent trade-off between fuse speed and its ability to withstand transient inrush currents; while its very fast-acting nature is ideal for protecting delicate semiconductors, engineers must carefully select the appropriate current rating to avoid nuisance tripping during normal startup sequences, especially in applications with significant capacitive loads.

Key Features

  • Extremely fast-acting interruption characteristics
  • Subminiature package for space-limited PCBs
  • Wide current rating range: 0.062A to 15A
  • Opening time of 1 second max. at 200% of rated current (for 0.062A-7A)
  • Opening time of 4 msec. max. at 1000% of rated current (for 0.5A-5A)
  • Dimensions: [Specify dimensions if available, otherwise omit or state “Compact”]

Applications

The component is engineered for deployment in systems requiring high reliability and performance under specific operating conditions. It provides functional stability across the stated design envelope.

  • Secondary protection for space-constrained power supplies
  • Overcurrent mitigation in flat-panel display backlighting inverters
  • Fast fault interruption for sensitive audio/video signal paths
  • Protection of high-speed data interfaces in office machines
