SEMIKRON

Semikron is a German manufacturer of power semiconductors and a leading innovator of power electronic systems.It was established in 1951 in Nuremberg by Dr. Friedrich Josef Martin.It is a family owned business, and in fact the only company among its immediate competitors to remain in the hands of the founding family.Its family ethics run deep, even offering flexible child care centres and work projects for parents.

It provides products including IGBT, MOSFET and thyristor/diode modules, discretes and bridge rectifiers. In addition to its standard semiconductor components it also develops systems and solutions that are customer-specific.

The markets it serves include the rail, hybrid and electric vehicles and wind and solar industries.In fact, SEMIKRON technology can be found in almost half the wind power installations in operation worldwide.

It was a pioneer in the technology for fuel cell and battery-operated vehicles.The first hybrid car in Europe, the Audi Duo, was powered by Semikron electronics.
