HCPL-2630 – FSC

The HCPL-2630, manufactured by Fairchild Semiconductor (FSC), is a dual-channel, high-speed optocoupler housed in an 8-pin dual inline package (DIP). It provides 3.75 kVrms of reinforced insulation voltage per UL1577, enabling safe signal isolation between circuits operating at different ground potentials. Each channel incorporates an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to a high-gain integrated photodetector. The output is an open-collector Schottky-clamped transistor, facilitating high-speed logic interfacing. The device is specified for a propagation delay of typically 13 ns, making it suitable for applications requiring fast data transmission. The open-collector configuration allows for flexible voltage level translation and wired-OR logic implementation. Key applications include isolated logic gate, wide bandwidth analog signal isolation, and elimination of ground loops.
