Fujitsu Limited is a Japanese multinational information technology equipment and services company, with its headquarters based in Tokyo, Japan. It has over 170,000 employees.
It was established in 1935 as a spin-off of the Fuji Electric Company, as a telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Over time the equipment took on new and various forms for the transmission of computer data as well.
Fujitsu chiefly makes computing products, but also offers a diversity of products in the areas of personal computing, telecommunications and advanced microelectronics. Its products and services are available in over 100 countries.
In 1980 Fujitsu first developed the HEMT (High Electron Mobility Transistor). This is an ultra-fast transistor with low-noise performance and is used for components and systems that require continuous, high-speed data processing. These include automobile radar systems, mobile phone base stations, and car navigation systems.
Fujitsu's component product range includes PCB relays for signal, power, and automotive applications, relays, connectors, keyboards, touch panels and thermal Printers as well as electrical applied equipment and server console switches.
Fujitsu continues to shape our future with its design and innovation ; its most recent invention is the ‘smart walking stick'. Still at prototype stage, it was shown off at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Exciting stuff - it is equipped with various connection technologies such as GPS, 3G and wifi - and has an LED display on top of the handle!
